Weekend crossing from Oeiras

Given a La Mare Apartboat XL (CE-D, 12×5 m, ~0.5 m draft, sail-walls, 2 small outboards, ~5 kn) berthed at the Porto de Recreio de Oeiras, when I try to cross the estuary on an ordinary weekend and anchor off the opposite bank, then I should get there and back safely, legally and insured.

Result: FAIL

The boat fits the marina (limits: 25 m × 6 m × 3 m draft), but the crossing runs through the throat of the estuary: main shipping channel, 2–3+ kn spring-tide currents, Atlantic swell through the bar, and the nortada filling in before lunch. A CE-D certification covers waves to 0.3 m — that exists a handful of glassy dawns per month in summer. Insurance outside design category: swampy. Full analysis: research note.

Technically possible in rare hand-picked windows; imprudent in all others. As a routine weekend scenario, that’s a fail.

DEC-004 — Oeiras Must ⇒ CE-C platform (trawler / motorsailer / power cat); anchoring-getaway Must ⇒ houseboat based at Parque das Nações. The same scenario re-run from Parque das Nações across the Mar da Palha (Seixal bay, Alcochete flats, 1h–1h30 at 5 kn) is expected to PASS — to be confirmed on the water.
